WHAT IS IT?
It is a core based program using a stick attached to an anchor point with a bungee cord. The instability of the cord means that constant core engagement is required throughout the entirety of the class. The cord and stick also provide resistance in which the exercises are performed against and either involve the stick or the loops. Many of the exercises take their inspiration from the Pilates Reformer and are executed whilst standing or on the floor.
WHY SHOULD I DO IT?
If core stability, back strength, balance and better posture are on your fitness wish list then this is the class for you. And if you have done reformer Pilates in the past and missing your classes, then think of this as a ‘portable’ reformer since many of the exercises take their inspiration from it. A strong foundation is also key to improved performance in many other sports and activities.
WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT?
We often start the workout with some standing exercises either with the stick or the loop attachments. This is primarily works the balance, coordination and posture – and the upper body gets a work out too. We also do ‘side on’ drills to work the lateral side of the body independently of the other. The other half of the workout is floor based, either seated or kneeling, to really get into the abs.
WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?
Regular exercise clothing is more than suitable. The standing exercises are usually best done in shoes to help with stability but the floor section is fine to do in just socks or Pilates socks.

“It reminds me a lot of my old reformer classes but it’s a much more accessible class”. – Tina
